When I heard, as a young Christian, the teaching on living a self-giving life like Jesus, I used to think that it was just not possible for me with all my weaknesses and a complicated upbringing like mine. I did not set it as a goal by praying for God to mould me into such a person either.

Years went by till the time when God really had to deal with my sinful attitudes towards my father and a few family members at its root that I had to face the reality of such hidden issues head on. Once I was set free by God’s mercy, I soon realised that I did not belong to myself anymore because I was bought with a price (I Cor. 7:23). So I owe my members to God for use to fulfil His purposes for my life as mentioned in Romans 6:13.

It then followed in things small as well as big that it is in my not focusing to live for myself that He would draw my attention to the needs of others that come my way. Thus far I have not sacrificed any of my life that’s worth the mention but that I count it a privilege to be available to support, to listen, to pray with others and to follow in the footsteps of Christ. So may God Yahweh be pleased to mould this life into the fragrance of Christ.
